Hannon's Motion Compensation Systems (MoComp) are designed to nullify the effects of drilling vessel vertical motion (heave) on the fixed and rotating drill string and bit. The Drill String Compensator (DSC) is mounted between the traveling block and the hook and is connected to the deck mounted air pressure vessel by standpipes and hose loop. It can be operated manually and electrically from the deck mounted control console. The Crown Mounted Compensator (CMC) consists of two vertically mounted compression type cylinders attached to a rigid frame mounted to the derrick water table. Both can be manufactured to meet ASME, ABS, DNV and other applicable industry standards.
